Vote for me because...
"In each and every election, it is your rights, it is your freedoms, it is your interests that are on the ballot." - Todd Young
As election day creeps closer, I often find the right and left side of my brain debating not only who is the best candidate to represent my interests and beliefs, but also what issues matter the most to me - today, and in the future.

As so often the case, my final decision is not based on party affiliation, race, sexual orientation, religion, or the many other factors which may influence the majority. My decision is based on, after much reading, listening and evaluating, who I feel will best represent my interests and value system.
The following are actual reasons people have told me, over the decades, why they voted for a particular person on the local, state or national level:
-
I liked her because she wears big and colorful hats.
-
We go to the same church and I know his family well.
-
I see his signs everywhere.
-
I always vote a straight party ticket. Don't care who is running.
-
He loves animals.
-
She is the lesser of three evils.
-
Hell with them all, I'm writing in Daffy Duck or Elmer Fudd
I am sure you have your own 'ridiculous,' but these are just a few from my rather extensive list.
If I was ever to run for political office, my mantra would be something I heard my father saw over and over again, "Promise me nothing!" So often, he would say, " I wish a politician would stand up and say. "I will promise you nothing. However, I WILL explain what I want to accomplish and how I will accomplish those goals. We want the same thing...a better life for us and our children. That person, more than likely, would get my vote."
So, with his words in mind, I have put together a "Voter Guide." outlining the reasons you SHOULD and SHOULD NOT vote for a particular candidate. It is certainly not all inclusive, but I hope it does give you something to think about in the days remaining before this very important election day.
That my friends and foes is it for today. You only have three days to decide who you will select to represent your interests in the many different positions up for election. I hope my voter guide has given both sides of your brain something to think about.

Yes, as an American, you have the responsibility to vote and the right not to vote. But, please do not come around me with your opinions and let it slip you did not vote.
If you missed yesterday's story, "I'm just not going to vote," it is available in Archives, located in the Side Bar. Tomorrow will conclude my trilogy on voting with a related story about immigration. So appropriate because of the current fears and facts.
Until tomorrow, this is Mike saying,
" I will promise you nothing!"
