The sexiest beach scene - ever.
Having lived on the Atlantic oceanfront for 32 years, I have seen and experienced many beautiful scenes. I have experienced many stunning sunsets and sunrises. I have seen many gorgeous women walking in the surf. I have seen many attractive couples walking the dunes holding hands, lying together on beach towels as the surf crashes near by, and even a few sharing a kiss as the sun sets.
However, the sexiest beach scene I have ever seen was from a 1953 movie, From Here to Eternity, starring Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr. The film won 8 Academy Awards out of 13 nominations. The film follows the lives of several soldiers and their families in the months prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor. Although the movie version differed greatly (at times) from the novel by the same name written by James Jones, it was not without its own controversy. For the purists, I suggest you read the novel and then you will understand why the Hollywood Censors insisted on many re-writes. Keep in mind, this was 1953.
Walk with me to the shores of Halona Cove on the island of Oahu as we relive the sexiest beach scene - ever. Take a few minutes and look at this picture of Milton Warren (Lancaster) and Karen Holmes (Kerr) standing on the reef moments before their famous love scene.
Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr were two of Hollywood's biggest and sexiest stars of their generation. As I look at, and into this picture, those facts are easily understood. Notice: Warren is looking toward the hills surrounding Halona Cove, while Holmes is looking to the heavens. Very symbolic - at least it is for me. If you have an opportunity to read the book and perhaps watch the movie, I think you will understand the symbolism
Later in this scene, the two spread towels on the beach in a very remote area - Halona Cove. Moments later, the most iconic beach love scene in Hollywood history takes place..

As I look at these pictures, I can still hear the waves crashing on the rocks and washing up on the sand. They embrace one another so tightly and passionately, they do not feel the waves rolling over their bodies. The look in their eyes. The beautiful musical. Then they emerge from the surf, lie down on their towels and she says, "No one ever kissed me the way you do." That, is a love scene.
This is why I rate this as the sexiest beach scene - ever. It has it all - without showing it all. Ironically, this scene would never haven taken place if it had not been for Lancaster's creativity. The original script called for them to stand and kiss. However, Lancaster convinced the director to push the limits of 1953 censorship and shoot the scene lying in the surf. The scene called for a simple kiss but Lancaster and Kerr made it much more than a simple kiss. They made history..
You may disagree but please, take a few minutes and view the scene for yourself. I welcome your comments.

You may have your own favorites and I would enjoying hearing about them and why you feel the way you do. I have a few others in mind, but none will ever compare to this. At least in my mind.
This is what Halona Cove looks like today. For many reasons, I prefer the other picture.
