Welcome to
"Then they came for me"
"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me." Martin Niemöller
Martin Niemöller was a German Lutheran pastor and theologian who became the leader of a group of German clergymen opposed to Hitler. In 1937 he was arrested and eventually confined in Dachau concentration camp. He was released in 1945 by the Allies. His statement is sometimes presented as a poem, frequently quoted, and is a popular model for describing the dangers of political apathy as it came face-to-face with the narcissist leadership of Adolph Hitler...and the many narcissistic leaders around the world who were to follow.
In 1933 Germany, it was:
Socialists Trade Unionists Jews
Do not be so foolish as to believe it could not happen again.
And that is the way I see it
Until next time,
Michael
